Why I do this

I wanted to be a journalist more than anything. I worked hard and became one. However, the internet and the proliferation of blogs have made my job more and more obsolete. I decided to create this blog to help citizen journalists become better at the art of journalism. This is about the mechanics of writing good, clean, accurate copy. If you want the details of good blogging this is not the place for you. This blog is about good journalism that happens to be on the internet.

Re-writes and Grading

I will be using this blog as a forum for better journalistic technique. I do the re-writes only to show where bad writing has been committed. I don't fact check or edit for bias. So don't write me emails telling me that I've failed to tell the truth. I am only the grammar police.

A Note on Commenting On This Blog

I write this blog because I want to see better news writing, not to insult bloggers. I welcome comments if you are capable of intelligent debate. I do not allow tirades and rants. Put that on your blog. If you don't agree with my grade on your news writing tell me why and prove to me why you're right. If you just want to tell me I suck, save it. I'm not interested.
